Johnny’s Story

When a parent realizes that something may be wrong with their child’s speech development, they embark on a journey to not just find help for their child, but to find the best help available. After many evaluations, hours of speech therapy, and more questions than answers, I began searching for something different for my son’s treatment. I needed to try an innovative approach to my son’s therapy to see if we could get more results with his speech development. This is when we met Jenn Buck. She uses many techniques that are different from the traditional one-size fits all approach to speech therapy. I often describe this to my friends as “physical therapy” for the mouth. She consistently gets great results from my son. Jenn has a unique gift to get kids excited about therapy.

When we first began seeing her for speech therapy, my son would say “eh eh” and point as his main method of communication. Within a few months, he was saying words, putting them together to say short sentences, and now very clearly says, “I love you, Mom.” If you are looking for a new approach to your child’s speech therapy, I recommend Jenn without any hesitation.

 *Johnny’s Update!

Johnny’s progress with his speech and language has been nothing short of remarkable, and Jenn has been an instrumental part of this. When I think back just a few years ago, we worked to just get individual sounds from Johnny, then words, and now he is using complete sentences! Jenn would send us home with the task of only accepting the right sounds for the particular word or two that he used on a daily basis. It seemed so easy and simply— This progress continued to grow as these sounds and words became a permanent part of his vocabulary. We often have to remind him of Jenn’s favorite line “Slow down and use your sounds.” When we remind him of this, he stops and thinks about the sounds he wants to make, and his articulation is much better.

People at Johnny’s school, including his peers, teachers, and other parents tell me often they can’t believe how much better his speech is and how they can understand him so much better. Of course this makes me happy, but I am even happier in seeing Johnny’s confidence in his speech and language blossom. This year Johnny played Little League baseball for the first time. He did great communicating with his teammates and joined in all of the cheers that came from his dugout. He would even yell from the outfield a big “Hi Mom!” A few years ago, I would have never believed that this would happen! Thank you, Jenn, for helping Johnny’s speech grown. What you do really does change people’s lives.
